Day 31 - January 31, 2011

Earlier in the month, y'all were introduced to my replacement iPod.  At the time, I named him Frank but it just didn't seem to fit.  Now his permanent name has suggested itself so I'd like to (re)introduce you to Vlad - which stands for Very Little Audio Device.  Long may he reign :).

Day 30 - January 30, 2011

This was actually my promo picture from when I was fighting.  I know it's not a picture I specifically took today, but it felt appropriate for what's been going on lately in my life physically and spiritually as a reminder to keep fighting and not to give up.  The tattoo is in Thai and the translation reads "strong/fighter" and "divine grace".

Day 29 - January 29, 2011

Today's hike was here:

No, seriously...

It only could have been more perfect if Mal and Zoe had shown up...Internet cookies if anyone gets that reference :).

Day 28 - January 28, 2011

One of my other few appointment television shows:

Smart, well-written, and engaging with characters I care about...

What X-Files might have been if Christ Carter had not lost the plot...

Come and join me on Friday nights with Walter, Peter and Olivia...

Just, um, don't eat dinner during it...

Day 27 - January 27, 2011

The steps leading to and from my apartment.  In this case, this is the view after climbing them which is doubly challenging lately since my workouts this week seem to largely be focusing on quads and hamstrings.  Ow.  Elliot.

Day 26 - January 26, 2011

Pictures of the bribes treats I keep on hand for the students and faculty who come by my office.

Note the pretty Valentine's Day colors :).

Day 24 - January 24, 2011

Today's Project 365 picture(s) brought to you by what happens when your apartment complex signs an exclusive cable deal with the cable company you are NOT using.

Looking at the diagram, does anybody remember back when your TV had one dial that you had to get up and turn?  And there were, like, five channels or less?  Gah.  I rememer BEGGING my dad to install an aerial on the house so we could get NBC and I could watch the Kroft Supershow on Saturday mornings.

(And I have just totally dated myself, haven't I?)

Day 23 - January 23, 2011

Let me 'splain.  No, is too long.  Let me sum up...

I mentioned the circus animal cookies to my mom as a fond childhood memory of both me and the Spousal Unit.  She said she would send us a bag since they don't make/sell them out here in our little section of the South.  What she failed to mention was the nine bags of cat treats she was sending along with them!  Makes you wonder where we all rate, don't it? :)

Day 22 - January 22, 2011

Today's hike was through parts of Murray Park.  For some reason, the stump interested me.  I didn't even see the thing on the right until I took the picture.

This was another point in the walk.  If I was being all artsy, I could call it "Self-Portrait" :P.  But I just liked the shape and the way it looked sitting out there.  Since I'm futzing with the pseudo-I-wanna-be-Photoshop-when-I-grow-up program that came with the camera, I figured I'd see how it looked in black and white as well.

Day 21 - January 21, 2001

The door prize from my latest trip to the doctor to discuss, among other things, my colitis.  I love my doc when he says, "Now, hear me out on this before...".  Although if this is the "smart" fiber, it makes me wonder what happens to the not-so-smart fiber...

Day 20 - January 20, 2011

Part of my daily torture session wherein I encourage my spine to stay somewhat intact and support me in the upright position for just a little while longer...

Day 19 - January 19, 2011

The files for my graduates from the Fall semester.  They've all passed final checkout and are ready to head to storage.

Day 17 - January 17, 2011

When the Spousal Unit is away, the Cyber Hermit gets to have SALAD for dinner (salad for the SU = lettuce, croutons and parmesan dressing only).  These are all the veggies that went into my salad tonight.

Day 16 - January 16, 2011

This is our other cat, Curious Grace.  She was tired of her sister, Munchkin, getting all the pictures.

Day 14 - January 14, 2011

Some days being one of the three billion sucks and the message gets lost in the static.

Day 11 - January 11, 2011

MONKEY!!!  Happiness is getting a visit from my very favorite four-year-old after having not seen him for almost a year.  We love each other like whoa.

Day 9 - January 9, 2011

A picture of the church from the back.  I wanted to get the water in and was trying to work with the zoom on the new camera a bit.

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Day 6 - January 6, 2011

Munchkin and her lettuce snack.  The cat craves lettuce.  Not shrimp, not chicken, not anything remotely cat treat-like.  Just lettuce.

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 5 - January 5, 2011

After five years of training/roadwork playlists and one awesome "mindset" playlist to sit and zone to while waiting for my turn on a fight card, it's finally time to retire Chip the iPod after long and honorable service.  I have a new 4th gen iPod coming thanks to a Christmas gift certificate.

Thanks, Chip, for service above and beyond through runs in the rain and snow, shadowboxing in sauna suits and sweats and more rounds of jumprope and heavy bag than I even want to remember :).

Day 4 - January 4, 2011

One of my few "appointment television" shows.  I love Mike's sense of humor and his willingness to try just about any of the jobs that as, he says, "make civilized life possible for the rest of us" - and he's done some doozies! - and the fact he never complains about any of the jobs he shows up to attempt.

Plus, he's kinda cute :).

Day 3 - January 3, 2011

Back in the saddle again after two weeks off (one of the things I love about working in higher education)

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Day 2 - January 2, 2011

Today's picture:

Tonight's attempt at putting together a new recipe:  slicing the beef and then saute-ing it until just cooked through in garlic-infused oil.  While it's resting, I'll be using the same pan to make a Marsala gravy and then putting the meat back in the pan to coat it in the gravy before loading it into French rolls.

Day 1 - January 1, 2011

The Spousal Unit and one of the cats, Munchkin, sharing the usual exciting Saturday night around the ol' homestead.
